Dr. Mickey Barber, CEO/CMO of Cenegenics Carolinas is taking her passion for breast cancer awareness to the next level. A few years ago, she was devastated when her sister lost the fight to breast cancer.
“One of the biggest tragedies of breast cancer is that it leaves mothers without daughters, daughters without mothers and so many people in the wake of the their loss. My sister, Marta, impacted so many young women through her coaching and teaching responsibilities, and I want to celebrate her life by helping a few women with their fight against breast cancer in my own way.”
In her sister’s honor, through October 15, Dr. Barber and the Cenegenics Carolinas team will be raising money for the 18th Annual Susan G. Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure on October 15.
To reach their goal of raising $5,000, Cenegenics Carolinas will donate $1 per new Facebook fan from October 1-15 (up to $1,500 dollars). Become a fan here! www.facebook.com/CenegenicsCarolinas
Along with their Facebook fundraising initiatives, Cenegenics Carolinas employees are getting a team together to show their support as they participate in the race. They are encouraging patients, friends, family and anyone else who is interested to join their Race for the Cure team. Along with waiving each participant’s registration fee, Cenegenics Carolinas will donate $50 in honor of each patient who joins their team, and $75 in honor of every non-patient. All participants will receive a custom Cenegenics Carolinas pedometer and two t-shirts, along with a special donation in their name to the Susan G. Komen fundraiser. Following the race, Cenegenics Carolinas invites their team to join them in a fun-filled after party at Laura Alberts in Daniel Island.
Through outside fundraising and from public donations, Cenegenics Carolinas believes they will surpass their $5,000 goal towards breast cancer awareness.
